The Athens Area School District is reminding motorists to pay attention to school buses and students as they travel to and from school each day.
Here is the complete Facebook post from the school district:
URGENT: SCHOOL BUS SAFETY AWARENESS
Good morning, We need your immediate attention regarding school bus safety as our students travel to and from school each day. In just the first four days of school, we have already recorded 10 school bus stop-arm violations. This is deeply concerning. When a school bus has its red lights flashing and is stopped, it is the law that all drivers must stop—no exceptions. These violations put our students, bus drivers, and other motorists at serious risk. We ask every driver in our community to be extra alert, patient, and committed to following the law. Our children’s safety depends on it.
For your reference, we have included important safety information as an attachment (click on the paperclip in the app if you cannot see it). Please take a moment to review it and share this message with others. Together, let’s protect our students and keep our roads safe. Thank you for your cooperation.
