Athens Borough residents are asking officials to help stop the excessive use of fireworks.
According to the Bradford Sentinel, one Athens resident requested that the borough council review local noise and fireworks ordinances after dealing with 37 instances of massive and excessive fireworks from June 22 through July 13.
The resident said he found other municipalities who have established a quiet time to help with issues involving fireworks.
Another resident expressed concern over potential property damage and other public safety risks from fireworks.
Athens Borough officials said it’s difficult to catch those setting off illegal fireworks in the act.
