The Bradford County Commissioners said they would help local food pantries remained fully stocked as state lawmakers continue to fight over the 2025-26 budget.
According to the Bradford Sentinel, the commissioners will allocate $25,000 to support five local food pantries – the Bentley Creek Pantry, Salvation Army, TACO, People Helping People and the Troy Food Pantry.
The Pennsylvania House of Representatives passed a $50.6 billion budget last month, while the state Senate recently passed a $47.6 billion spending plan. When the two sides will come together and pass a budget is unclear.
The commissioners noted that while they can help the food pantries in the short term, a prolonged budget stalemate could hurt them and other vital programs in the county.
