The Bradford County Sheriff’s Office is warning the public about new phone scams targeting members of the community.
According to the sheriff’s office, scammers are pretending to be deputies or officials connected to the office and demanding payments over the phone.
The scammers are reportedly demanding payments in the form of gift cards, Cash App, Venmo and other electronic methods.
The sheriff’s office is reminding residents that deputies would never request payment over the phone, and they would never ask for payments in the form of gift cards or Venmo.
Those with questions or concerns about any suspicious activity should contact the sheriff’s office at 570-265-1701.
