A Dushore volunteer firefighter lost his life in a car accident over the weekend.
According to the Pennsylvania State Police, 54-year-old Michael Hanley of Langhorne was killed when his 2025 GMC Sierra left the roadway on Holly Hill Road in Colley Township and struck multiple trees.
Hanley was the lone occupant of the vehicle at the time of the one-car crash, which occurred at around 3:55 pm on Saturday.
The victim was dead when first responders arrived on the scene.
A post on the Dushore Fire-Rescue Facebook page mourned the loss of Hanley, who recently joined the department and was training to become an apparatus operator.
Here is the complete statement from the fire department:
It is with deep sadness that we announce the untimely passing of firefighter Michael Hanely, age 54, who tragically lost his life in a motor vehicle accident on October 25.
Michael recently retired and had joined the Dushore Fire Company as a probationary member. He was excited to begin this new chapter of service to the community and had attended several training events. Michael was preparing to become an apparatus operator and had registered for upcoming pump and driver training courses.
Though his time with the Fire Company was brief, Michael’s enthusiasm, dedication, and eagerness to serve left a lasting impression on all who met him. His loss is felt deeply by his fellow members and by the entire community.
We extend our heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Funeral service information will be shared when it becomes available.
May he rest in peace.
