A historic bridge in Bradford County will be closed for repairs later this year.

Bridge No. 8 on Bronson Road, just off Route 6 in West Burlington, has not seen any major repairs since 1966.

According to The Daily Review, that will change this year when the $567,000 project strengthens walls beneath the bridge, improves the deck and approach roads and replaces some metal components. A new paint job will also be part of the project.

A timeline has not been set for the bridge project, but it is expected to be completed by the end of this year.

When the bridge is closed down, motorists will use a 4.6 mile detour along East Troy Back Road, Gulf Road and Route 6.

The funding for the project comes from the county’s Act 13 funds.
