The misdemeanor charges filed against the incoming Canton mayor were dismissed.
According to The Daily Review, during a preliminary hearing on Dec. 31, Shawn Packard pleaded guilty to a summary violation of trespass as part of a plea deal. The commonwealth dropped the more serious misdemeanor charges of defiant trespass, invasion of property and disorderly conduct.
Packard was accused of trespassing on his neighbor’s property on several occasions for almost a year.
Police said Packard not only entered the property on foot, but also flew his drone on and around the property on several occasions.
Packard is set to be sworn in as Canton’s mayor on Monday, Jan. 12.
