The Pennsylvania State Police conducted an ‘aggressive enforcement’ campaign for 48 hours in mid-June. The operation, called ‘Rocking the 80s’, focused on Interstate 80, 81, 84, and 180. During the 48-hour period, Area III Troopers issued almost 1,200 traffic tickets. 5 DUI arrests were also made, as well as 9 Misdemeanors and 2 Felony drug arrests. 30 Motor Carrier Inspections were conducted, netting 102 Motor Carrier violations. 9 Commercial Vehicles were placed out of service. The Pennsylvania State Police will be increasing the number of patrols on area roads and highways over the Independence Day period. The enforcement goal is to reduce crashes and make the roadways safer to travel.
