A Sayre man is accused of sexually assaulting a child over five years ago in Athens Borough.
According to police, 42-year-old Timothy R. Gainous is accused of inappropriately touching a girl between the ages of 6 and 9 years old between 2016 and 2019.
Gainous was remanded Friday to the Bradford County Jail on $100,000 bail.
The suspect allegedly told the victim that he would hurt people if she disclosed the abuse to anyone.
The victim told hospital staff in December of the alleged assaults.
Gainous has been charged with first degree felonies including rape of a child, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, and other related charges.
