Businesses in Bradford County have been warned about an elaborate credit card scam that has recently been on the rise.
According to the Pennsylvania State Police, the scam involves calling in a large order for a product, often several thousand dollars’ worth of goods, and paying using a credit card.
The purchase is processed and then the scammer arranges for a delivery or pickup of the product. The scammers will often try to make additional orders in the days after the initial call.
After the scammers obtain the goods, the credit card is reported stolen and the business owner is at a financial loss.
