The Towanda Black Knights punched their ticket to the Scholarship Challenge finals on Saturday.
Towanda took down Tioga Central in the opening round on Saturday, while Newark Valley beat Owego. In the final match of the day, Towanda picked up the win over Newark Valley to advance to the finals on March 15th.
With the victory, the Black Knights will join Notre Dame and Sayre on the Sayre Theatre stage in the finals. This is the fifth straight year that Towanda will compete on the final weekend of Scholarship Challenge.
The last spot in the finals will be decided between Athens, Elmira , Northeast Bradford and Wyalusing in the final qualifying round this Saturday.
Over the five-week competition, 16 high school teams from across the Twin Tiers will compete for $5,000 in prize money and the coveted Kwasnoski Cup.
A middle school competition will take place on March 8.
All rounds of Scholarship Challenge begin at 10 a.m. and can be heard live on all Radigan Media stations and on the My Hometown Today app.
