Two-car crash left two dead, three injured on Route 6 in January

A two-car crash on State Route 6 in West Burlington left two dead and sent three to the hospital last month.

According to the Pennsylvania State Police, the accident occurred on State Route 6 at around 1:15 p.m. on Jan. 11.

Police said 27-year-old Wysox resident Robert L. Roof II was driving west during a snow squall when he lost control of his vehicle and struck a car driven by 59-year-old Troy resident Amy Swackhammer.

Swackhammer was fatally injured in the accident. Three of the four passengers in her car were taken to a local hospital with suspected injuries.

A passenger in Robert Roof’s car, 81-year-old Mary J. Roof, suffered serious injuries in the crash and died five days later.

Robert Roof suffered a minor injury in the accident. He is facing a summary charge of careless driving that unintentionally caused death.
