The Chemung County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal shooting that happened at a large birthday party in Southport on Friday.
According to police, the shooting took place at around 12:45 a.m. on Friday at a home on Richard Street.
There had been a large birthday party at the house with between 30 and 50 people in attendance.
The victim was shot multiple times outside the home.
The victim died shortly after the shooting.
The Sheriff’s Office said the individuals involved in the shooting fled the scene in a vehicle.
The name of the victim has not been released.
Police said the shooting appeared to be targeted and was not a random act. Anyone who lives in the area who may have seen or heard anything, or has security footage is asked to contact the Chemung County Sheriff’s Office.
