The community is mourning the loss of a well-known and respected businessman who passed away last week.
Dave Rosenbloom passed away suddenly on Friday at his home in St. Augustine, Florida. He was 80 years old.
Rosenbloom’s father, Byron, started the Jay Furniture Company in Athens back in 1942. Dave would then open the Jay Carpet Center right across the street in 1967.
The company would expand with their warehouse in Athens in 1978. Over the years, the Rosenbloom family has dealt with floods and fires, but the business always pushed forward and continues to serve the community to this day at their Horseheads location, which was opened in 1996.
The Greater Valley Chamber of Commerce wrote in a Facebook post that Rosenbloom was an integral part of the chamber, saying his contributions to the chamber and to the community will never be forgotten.
