Corning police have arrested a 20-year-old for assaulting his girlfriend. On Sunday around 4:00 p.m. members of the Corning Police Department say they responded to Hornby Road, in the Town of Corning, for a domestic incident. A 19-year-old female alleges that her boyfriend, Ali Muhammad Jr., intentionally pressed his burning cigar into her face during a verbal argument. According to police the victim drove to a friend’s house and called authorities. Muhammad was taken into custody without incident a short time later, and charged with: Felony Assault, misdemeanor menacing, and misdemeanor Criminal Possession of a Weapon. He was arraigned in Corning City Court and remanded to the Steuben County Jail. He is scheduled to re-appear in court Tuesday.
