Azalea Wind LLC is seeking a New York State permit to construct and operate a 100-megawatt renewable-energy facility in the Schuyler County towns of Catharine and Hector.

The proposal is listed as matter 26-00025 in the Department of Public Service’s public document system. The filing is being reviewed under Article VIII of the state Public Service Law, the permitting process used for major renewable-energy facilities.

State records identify Azalea Wind LLC as the applicant and classify the matter as an Article VIII permit petition. The public docket contains the application and supporting filings, along with a section for public comments and a party list.

One state consultation document says the developer submitted a wildlife site-characterization report before filing its application. The Office of Renewable Energy Siting and Electric Transmission and the Department of Environmental Conservation reviewed that material and outlined additional study and mitigation recommendations, including work related to northern long-eared bats.

The presence of an application does not mean the project has received final approval. State reviewers can require additional information, studies or mitigation before deciding whether the proposed facility meets Article VIII standards.

Residents can follow matter 26-00025 through the Department of Public Service document system, where new filings, public comments and scheduling information are posted as the review proceeds.
