A pair of Bath residents have been arrested for allegedly mistreating a dog in their care.
According to Bath Police, 45-year-old Darla B. Martin and 70-year-old Daniel J. Gartland have been charged with failure to provide proper sustenance.
The arrests followed an investigation that started in September when officers were called to a home on West Morris Street where a golden retriever was potentially being abused.
Officers told the owners to take the dog to the vet, but when they returned five days later officers noticed the dog had a deep cut to the neck and hadn’t been taken to a vet.
The dog was then seized and turned over to the SPCA for emergency care.
