Chemung County Jail inmate charged after being found with fentanyl

A Chemung County Jail inmate is facing new charges after he was allegedly found with fentanyl in the jail.

According to the Chemung County Sheriff’s Office, 30-year-old Anthony W. Williams was charged with promoting prison contraband in the first degree and criminal possession of a controlled substance.

Williams was charged after he was found with an unknown substance while in the county jail on an unrelated charge.

Following an investigation, the substance was determined to be fentanyl.
