A Beaver Dams man was found dead inside a car that was submerged in a pond in Horseheads on Saturday.
According to the New York State Police, 84-year-old William Olin was found in a White Subaru which was in a pond on a property on Prospect Hill Road.
Police were originally called to the scene for a report of a burglary at around 10 p.m. Troopers found an open garage with several damaged items inside and a vehicle in the driveway that was also damaged.
Troopers found tire tracks leading across the lawn toward a pond. The Subaru was found with Olin deceased inside.
The Chemung County Medical Examiner responded to the scene and ordered Olin’s body to be taken to the hospital for an autopsy.
The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
