The body of a person who went missing on Cayuga Lake over the weekend was discovered on Monday.
According to the Seneca County Sheriff’s Office, two people went out on the lake in a kayak at around 1:30 a.m. on Sunday when it capsized.
One person was rescued by bystanders, but the other person was unaccounted for.
Following a search that lasted more than 24 hours, first responders recovered a body at around 11:15 a.m. on Monday.
The victim was identified as 35-year-old Bo Soon “John” Choi of Flushing, New York.
The sheriff’s office said neither person in the kayak was wearing a life jacket during the incident.
