Following an exciting weekend of racing at Watkins Glen International, members of the Elmira Heights Fire Department got to work on Monday.
The local fire department spent the day collecting bottles and cans from campsites across the historic road course.
In just over 2 ½ hours, members collected enough recyclables to build a wall in the fire department’s apparatus bay measuring 40 feet long, five feet wide and nearly six feet tall.
All proceeds from the bottle and can fund go directly toward supporting the department’s EMS program.
