An Elmira man has been sentenced to years in state prison for a shooting death in Elmira last year.
According to the Chemung County District Attorney’s Office, 28-year-old Marcus Jones-Snyder pleaded guilty in February to first-degree manslaughter in the shooting death of Zachary Van Horn on June 20, 2024.
Van Horn was shot at a home on Grove Street and found wounded by police. He was taken to a hospital and later pronounced dead.
Jones-Snyder was arrested a week later and charged with murder.
Jones-Snyder has been sentenced to 20 years in state prison followed by 2 ½ years of post-release supervision.
