Sunday afternoon, the Elmira Police responded to a structure fire on the 300 block of East Thurston. Initially, police provided traffic control support at the scene. Shortly after arrival, the Elmira Fire department advised the police that there appeared to be a meth lab in the attic of the residence. An investigation revealed a number of items used in the manufacture of meth. Police arrested a 30-year-old resident, Timothy J. Stilson for felony Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance. Further arrests are expected. There is no known connection between this incident and the homicide of the eight-year-old in Elmira. Both incidents occurred on the 300 block of East Thurston.
