Retired teacher joins race for Corning Mayor

A retired teacher has announced she will run for Corning mayor.

According to WENY-TV, Pam Walker has lived in the city since 1992 and taught at Frederick Carder Elementary School and the Alternative School for Math and Science. She currently serves as planning commissioner for the City of Corning.

Walker previously worked as a city planner in Arizona, California and Florida.

Current Corning Mayor Bill Boland has endorsed Walker. Boland is not seeking re-election.
