A dog owner fired a gun at an aggressive dog that was attacking their pet in Elmira on Monday afternoon.
According to Elmira Police, the incident occurred at around 4:50 p.m. at the intersection of Collins Street and Beecher Street.
A dog reportedly broke out of a nearby residence and attacked a dog that was being walked by its owners. One of the owners fired a single round at the other dog.
The dog was not struck by the bullet, which was found in the street.
The firearm was legally possessed by the dog owner.
The dog that was being walked suffered minor injuries.
