A former Elmira Police Officer has pleaded guilty to attempting to pass confidential information to a relative involved in an active drug case.

According to the Schuyler County District Attorney’s Office, 26-year-old Shyonna Pacheco entered a guilty plea to attempted hindering prosecution in the second degree.

The plea was made in Elmira City Court, but the Chemung County District Attorney’s Office recused itself due to a potential conflict of interest.

Pacheco was arrested on Oct. 15 after investigators discovered she used her position to attempt to obtain confidential information and relay it to a relative connected to a person under investigation in a drug case.

Pacheco is set to be sentenced on June 30.
