A local group is pushing for the City of Elmira to build a new skatepark at Eldridge Park.
The Elmira Skatepark Advocacy Group is working with city officials on the next steps for the skatepark.
The current skatepark at Eldridge Park was built almost 25 years ago and has fallen into disrepair in recent years.
Elmira Mayor Dan Mandell told WENY-TV that the current park is beyond renovation. He said the city would be putting in for any state grants that are available for the park in the future.
The Elmira Skatepark Advocacy Group is looking to raise at least a million dollars over the next few years to make the new skatepark a reality.
The Community Foundation of Elmira-Corning and the Finger Lakes is accepting donations for the project. Click here for more information.
