Three people are facing charges after they allegedly abused a dog over several months in Big Flats.
According to the Chemung County Sheriff’s Office, 30-year-old Elmira resident Tracey Itjen is accused of force feeding a small dog several coins and thumbtacks at a home on Antler Road in Big Flats between June and October of this year.
Tracey Itjen has been charged with felony aggravated cruelty to animals. She was remanded to the Chemung County Jail on a probation violation.
Following an investigation, 69-year-old Douglas Itjen and 67-year-old Darlene Itjen were also arrested in connection with the abuse.
They have been charged with overdriving, torturing and injuring animals, and failure to provide proper sustenance.
Three dogs were removed from the home by Southern Tier Animal Control.
