Three women have been arrested for allegedly attempting to smuggle drugs into the Elmira Correctional Facility.
The first arrest happened on Dec. 20 when a Buffalo woman allegedly tried to bring marijuana into the prison. Officials said roughly 50 grams of weed were seized in that incident.
The next day, a Rochester woman allegedly tried smuggling in almost two pounds of marijuana hidden in her shirt.
On Jan. 18, a woman visiting the prison from Port Jefferson allegedly tried to sneak marijuana, rolling papers and other suspected drugs by hiding them in her children’s pants. Officials said 23 grams of weed and two sheets of liquid-stained paper were recovered.
All three women were arrested, charged and released with appearance tickets.
