An Elmira man has been indicted on charges related to a break-in at the JCPenney store at the Arnot Mall last month.

According to WETM, 61-year-old Eric J. Williams was indicted by a Chemung County Grand Jury on the charges of third-degree burglary and second-degree criminal mischief.

Police have accused Williams of using a large rock to break the glass doors at the JCPenney store located at the Arnot Mall on July 17.

Williams was arrested while inside the store and treated at a local hospital for cuts he sustained while allegedly breaking into the store.

The Chemung County District Attorney’s Office said Williams caused more than $1,500 in damage by breaking two glass doors at the store.
