A man who fell through an icy Chenango County pond was saved by his own brother before emergency crews made it to the scene. The New Berlin Fire Department, along with an engine out of South New Berlin, was on the scene of a water rescue Sunday night at the Hunts Pond State Forest. Four people were out fishing on the ice, according to the fire department. One man fell through and was pulled out by his brother. By the time EMS crews arrived, everyone was safely out of the water. Two were taken to Chenango Memorial Hospital. No serious injuries were reported.
