One man is dead and a woman injured following a house fire on Peck Street in Sayre. Sayre fire officials say that 83-year-old Philip Bowman was smoking in bed with oxygen on when the fire started. Bowman’s family lived in a house next door. His daughter, Kathy Seck, saw the flames and attempted to drag her father to safety. Seck got her father to the kitchen of his home, before emergency responders needed to step in. Both Seck and Bowman were taken to Robert Packer Hospital. Bowman later died in the hospital as a result of his injuries.
