A routine audit of the Tompkins County bussing system, TCAT, resulted in the arrest of an employee. Pamela Johnson of Cortland is a former accounts assistant for TCAT, and she turned herself into police on charges of grand larceny, charges to which she pleaded not guilty. Johnson is accused of embezzling over $247,000 in payments while working for TCAT. Investigators allege that between August of 2010 and February of this year she wrote checks into an account that she controlled. The money went to vender JTD, or Johnson Tool Design, despite TCAT never receiving any services provided by JTD. JTD is a company owned by Johnson’s husband. She was released on her own recognizance, and further charges are pending at this time.
