A New Albany man will spend years in state prison after a shootout with his neighbor last year.
According to the Bradford County District Attorney’s Office, 26-year-old Isaiah Covert was sentenced to 28 months to 7 years in state prison for aggravated assault, causing bodily injury with a deadly weapon, which is a grade two felony.
On Nov. 6, 2024, Covert and his neighbor were arguing about Covert’s dogs when the neighbor threatened to shoot one of them.
The two men then exchanged gunfire, with Covert hitting his neighbor and causing a serious injury, which was originally considered life-threatening.
In addition to his prison sentence, Covert will not be able to legally own a firearm in the future.
