The new speed limit for part of the Clemens Center Parkway is now in effect.
The speed limit on the Clemens Center Parkway from East Second Street to the end of the Clemens Center Bridge has been lowered from 40 miles per hour to 35 miles per hour.
New signs have now been installed on the roadway.
The City of Elmira requested the New York State Department of Transportation reduce the speed limit after several accidents, including some that involved fatalities.
