Newtown Battlefield State Park celebrated the 246th anniversary of the Battle of Newtown Saturday.
Reenactors helped tell the story of the Battle of Newtown in 1779, a decisive Revolutionary War battle where Gen. John Sullivan’s troops defeated British and Iroquois forces. They also provided the community a look at what colonial life was like at the time, along with children’s games and woodworking demos.
Organizers hope events like this can help preserve local and American history.
