The Binghamton area saw a big boost to the economy during the high school state basketball championships.
According to Visit Binghamton, the area saw $1.6 million dollars in total economic impact during the tournament.
The New York State high school boys basketball championships were held from March 19 through the 22nd at the Visions Veterans Memorial Arena in Binghamton.
This was the second straight year the tournament was held in Binghamton.
Throughout the tournament, nearly 18,000 visitors came to the Binghamton area.
The state basketball tournament is scheduled to return to Binghamton in 2027.
