BINGHAMTON, N.Y. — The Broome County Industrial Development Agency is proposing a 500-acre mixed-use technology park spanning the towns of Union and Maine.
The project, planned between Airport Road and East Maine Road, is expected to generate about 7,000 jobs, $690 million in earnings, and $2.3 billion in economic activity over the next 20 years.
Plans call for preserving a large portion of the land, with roughly 77% set aside for open space and recreation, including trails and walking paths. Developers say the design focuses on integrating with the natural landscape rather than traditional large-scale industrial layouts.
The proposal also includes a housing component, aimed at addressing ongoing demand for new housing in Broome County and supporting long-term economic growth.
Officials say the project is intended to help revitalize the region following decades of industrial decline and population loss.
A public comment period is now open, allowing residents to provide feedback on the proposed development before it moves forward.
