Broome County man accused of stealing truck, forging documents

A Broome County man is facing felony charges after he allegedly stole a truck and changed the information with the DMV.

According to WBNG-TV, 44-year-old Adam L. Smith has been charged with felony counts of possession of a forged instrument, grand larceny, criminal tax fraud and offering a false instrument for filing.

The arrest stems from a report of a stolen truck from a driveway on Cooper School House Road in Bainbridge on March 12.

Police discovered that the truck was registered to both Smith and the victim in Bainbridge. Smith is accused of stealing the truck and forging documents and signatures before filing them with the DMV to get the truck registered in his name.

Smith was arrested and is scheduled to appear in court on April 28.
