Binghamton man wanted in connection with double murder arrested in Florida

The man wanted in connection with a double murder in Binghamton has been arrested in Florida.

The Volusia County Sheriff’s Office announced that 50-year-old Scott Mitchell was taken into custody at 1:25 pm outside of a McDonald’s in Daytona Beach.

Mitchell is a suspect in the murders of Daniel McCloe and Marshall VanOven, who were reported missing on Feb. 3 and found dead in a private residence on Feb. 5.

The Sheriff’s Office in Florida had put out a $10,000 reward for anyone who turned in information leading to Mitchell’s arrest. A person called in a tip and earned the reward money.

The Binghamton Police Department’s investigation into the murders is ongoing.
