Last week, the Johnson City Police stopped a motorcycle on Main Street for a traffic infraction. The passenger was not wearing a helmet. The driver of the motorcycle, 41-year-old Elyis Ellsworth, of Binghamton, was found to have a suspended license, and the plates were registered to a different motorcycle. Ellsworth was also found to have a loaded and stolen 9-millimeter handgun in a backpack. Ellsworth was charged with felony Criminal Possession of a Weapon, as well as felony Criminal Possession of Stolen Property and several misdemeanor and traffic violations. Ellsworth was remanded to the Broome County Jail. The passenger was released.
