The Binghamton Police Department is continuing its investigations of residential neighborhood burglaries to vacant homes. The investigation has determined that over 25 burglaries of this type have occurred over the last several weeks. Locations targeted have been on the South, East and West sides of the City of Binghamton. The locations have been vacant properties many with posted “FOR SALE” type realty signs posted on the property. Forced entry to a rear door or window has occurred in several cases. Once inside the perpetrators cut the copper plumbing pipes or wiring from the homes to harvest as scrap metals. People are encouraged to report suspicious activity, persons or vehicles. If a suspicious person or condition is observed, police request that they be notified without delay. There is no suspect or suspect vehicle information at this time.
