The Broome County District Attorney’s Office has announced that a Chenango County man has pleaded guilty in a case involving crimes against a child.
According to the DA’s office, Francesco Baio of New Berlin pleaded guilty to endangering the welfare of a child on Oct. 15 in the Town of Afton Court.
New York State Police arrested Baio on Jan. 25 after an investigation revealed he inappropriately touched a person under the age of 17. He was 69-year-old at the time of his arrest.
The case was handled by the Broome County District Attorney’s Office due to a conflict of interest in Chenango County.
Baio will be sentenced to probation in January. He will also be ordered to have no unsupervised contact with children under the age of 17. An order of protection was issued for the victim in this case.
