The child injured in a house fire in the Town of Chenango on Monday has passed away from their injuries.
The fire occurred at around 12:47 p.m. on Monday. A 26-year-old woman was able to get two of her children out of the home, but was unable to get to her 1-year-old child due to heavy smoke conditions.
New York State Troopers and Broome County Sheriff’s Deputies were able to get into the home through a window and get the child out.
The child was transported to Upstate Medical Center, but did not survive.
The New York State Police and Broome County Fire Investigators are looking into the cause of the fire.
