One man was arrested and the other was sent to the hospital Sunday night in the town of Union. A 27-year-old male was charged with the felonies of Assault in the second degree, Tampering with Physical Evidence and the misdemeanor of Endangering the Welfare of a Child and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the seventh degree. Troopers were dispatched Sunday night to a residence in the 700 block of Maple Street in the town Union for a reported stabbing where the suspect fled from the scene. Troopers located the suspect in the area and he was arrested. After an investigation, it was determined that the suspect, 27-year-old Bryan Bonventre and the victim, engaged in a dispute that was verbal that then became physical and resulted in Bonventre allegedly cutting the victim with a box cutter. The victim was transported to Binghamton General Hospital. A further investigation revealed that the altercation occurred in the presence of a child. Bonventre was arraigned at Broome County Central Arraignment and Processing where he was remanded to the Broome County Jail. The investigation continues.
