Former Congressman Anthony Brindisi has been nominated by President Joe Biden to serve as the US District Court Judge in the Northern District of New York.
Brindisi would replace Judge David Hurd, who will take senior status once Brindisi is confirmed.
Brindisi served in the New York State Assembly from 2011 to 2018 before winning a seat in Congress. He lost his re-election to Claudia Tenney in 2020.
Brindisi ran for a spot on the New York State Supreme Court in 2021, but lost by 17,000 votes to Danielle Fogel. He was later appointed to the State Court of Claims by Gov. Kathy Hochul in 2022.
Since the beginning of this year, Brindisi has served as an acting State Supreme Court Justice in Oneida County.
If he is confirmed, Brindisi would serve a life term on the bench.
