The Johnson City Police Department has filed charges in connection with the incident that landed the Binghamton Police Chief on administrative leave.
According to police, 44-year-old Susan Rice has been charged with endangering the welfare of a child, a Class A misdemeanor, as well as trespassing and harassment.
A video shows Rice arguing with her neighbor’s 16-year-old son and his 18-year-old friend on Friday. She is seen marching onto her neighbor’s porch and striking both teenagers.
She was then shoved to the ground, before Binghamton Police Chief Joseph Zikuski, who was off-duty at the time, picked her up and took her off the neighbor’s property.
The teenage victims did not suffer any injuries. Rice was treated for her injuries following the incident.
Charges were not immediately filed, but Rice was interviewed by detectives on Monday and arrested. She was issued an appearance ticket and will return to Johnson City Court at a later date.
