Even though an arrest has been made, Johnson City police say their investigation is far from over involving the death of an 11-year-old boy earlier this month. 30-year-old Shakia Crute has been charged with manslaughter for allegedly causing the death of her son, Jerome Smith. Police and prosecutors announced the arrest Friday and both agencies say the case continues to be actively investigated. Authorities said they don’t plan to offer further statements.
