The Maine-Endwell School District, along with Broome County Legislator Jason Shaw, will host a substance abuse awareness night. It’s happening Wednesday from 5:30 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Maine-Endwell Middle School. The event is free and open to the public. At 5:45 p.m. the documentary “If They Had Known” will be shown in the auditorium. It highlights the current risks associated with party culture and features the real-life story of a teen that dies at a party after mixing prescription drugs and alcohol. Following the documentary, there will be a presentation by a young adult in recovery. A question and answer session with a panel of local professionals in the field of substance use prevention, treatment and recovery will follow the presentation.
