The Broome-Tioga Disability Awareness Committee is holding a ‘Mentoring Day’ today, as part of National Disability Employment Awareness month. Mentoring Day is a collaborative effort of ten non-profit and governmental agencies that serve individuals with disabilities by assisting them in obtaining job-related skills, and careers. This annual event provides multiple opportunities for students with disabilities from local school districts to tour 15 local work places and “shadow” workers to learn more about the world of work. It begins with a kick-off breakfast at Broome-Tioga BOCES.
